For some insane reason, I have agreed to take Murphy clear round jumping tomorrow night.

We will only be doing tiny jumps (no bigger than 1ft, and hopefully all cross poles) but I really am the worst person ever when it comes to jumping and at best I usually end up clinging on round Murphy's neck, or at worst in a heap on the floor

I think I need some superglue. I am destined to embarrass myself by falling off a 14.1hh hairy beasty jumping 1ft

Is it cheating to tie myself to the saddle?!

Stop worrying, you'll be absolutely fine! Weren't you jumping 2ft a while ago? 1 foot will seem tiny, and Murphy will look after you

Just go and enjoy it

yes definately.... tie ankles to girth then get gaffa tape and attach whole self to horse using gaffa tape like a girth round your legs and round horse belly!

Im sure you'll be fine, I took my share horse out to a charity ride last week, having jumped him twice, and not at all for 4 years before that (me not him), and we jumped everything.... without hitting the deck!

we did jump 2ft once...but it was not very elegant

!! We normally jump 1ft6 - 1ft 9 ish but have never "gone out" jumping anywhere before if you see what I mean?! We both have a tendency to refuse jumps we're not familiar with (although this is probably all my fault), and that's when I fall off...

Just don't do my trick!

If I get nervous I don't get myself up after the fence and end up going out the side door. Remember jump, sit up!

You'll have a great time!

Oooo I think I do that! I have to growl at myself to sit up, or I end up lying or Murphy's (fortunately very ample) neck squealing "Woah!!"

LOL....... try not to let it get to you seriously, or mr m will pic up on it! Just go and have fun, thats what its all about after all!

It's at the place we went to for that show recently, so he has at least seen the school there before...but not the jumps!! I also haven't jumped for weeks...might see if I can put up a little x pole tonight...

pah....who needs a bumper anyway!!!? marvy is behaving himself after costing me £500 last month!!! Ouch!

Can see me shouting "sit up and kick" to myself tomorrow night as I usually forget to do both of those things!!

Try to practise over 2foot ones until you get used to them, and by the time you go 1foot will seem really small

I'll defo try to jump bigger than 1 ft tonight so it doesn't seem as scary tomorrow!

oh good for you, that is one of my big milestones to do clear round jumping. I am toying with going on BH mon if I can find a lift as the place near us do small 1ft cross poles too. I am sure you and Murphy will do fine and you'll be so proud! My tip is to look ahead and at the jump not down at the floor - which is what I tend to do!

oooh good luck, know how your feeling but you'll have a super time and I bet he'll look after you!!

Dying to get my mare out jumping again but she's taken to broncing (threw excitement) and pinged me off awhile back, neck still not right and now I daren't!! Such a wuss, maybe I'll use you as inspiration.........!!!
