My poor GG is just coming back into work after a kick in the field in Feb, anyway, he is now able to walk and do a bit of trot and I hope if all keeps going as planned he will soon be able to canter again. (although he does all that and more in the field!!!, I am talking about ridden work!) But been taking it slowly.

Anyway I have a young girl who was just starting to share him when this all happened, she has stayed around as she loves him to bits, although not contributing to him financially, in the hope that he would come sound which thankfully he is, she will continue the share and hopefully contribute a bit financially from July when he can do a bit more work.

She is going to share him Sat morning and one or two evenings in the week which is great for me.

BUT as a single mum I am finding it a real struggle to keep him. Obviously I have to work so although her help is great I really could do with more, and as money is tight, help with costs would be great! Do you think it's right for the horse to have 2 people sharing him (that's if I can find someone else who's a decent rider etc) and does anyone out there have more than one sharer and how does it work for you? I don't want to have to do this but he is a fantastic horse and I want to do all I can to be able to keep him.

In principle sounds OK but, as scotsmare said would that leave you able to ride your own horse? Also it wouldn't seem fair to charge one sharer when the other one isn't contributing regularly.

She has other commitments on the other days, also one of the week days is still a maybe at the moment. As she only does Sat mornings I have the afternoon and if someone else wanted part of Sunday I could do the other half. I often get days off in the week too so can ride when others are at work/school etc so I do get other opportunities to do him! He is a big strapping lad and being ridden twice a day wouldn't be a problem (once fully fit) he is used mainly for hacking, lessons and local shows so nothing too taxing!

I have 3 for one of mine (not any of them contribute financially

) Two of the girls are firends and come up at the same time as they are the youngest on the yard they have 'companionship' but to be honest they are getting to be more trouble than they're worth. The other one is great and comes up once a week.

It can work if you can co-ordianate well. Just make sure it suits you, because mine doesn't and its all a bit of a nightmare

I will have from September, when I go to university.

My cousin will ride him twice a week and contribute financially (the cost of shoes - £40 every 8 weeks and a bag of feed every fortnight).

My friend will ride four times a week and pay £20 a week. I will ride on Saturdays (I'm coming home for weekends).

My cousin is a very experienced rider, and will compete and hunt, while my friend is more of a happy hacker. So he'll get the best of both worlds (hopefully it'll work out that harmoniously).

I had 2 others sharing the pony with me at one point
I had Sunday's and Tuesdays
L had Thur and Sat
T had Mon, Wed, Fri

T worked every weekend and I always rode later in the evening so pony would sometimes to 1/2hr at 4 and another session at 6
Worked brilliantly

I have two sharers and I find it works really well. We all do two days a week each and he has a day off.

As long as you all communicate then it should be fine.
