WOW have launched a new magnesium head plate for thier saddles - its apparantly almost weightless.... has anyone got one yet?? Just wondering how much they are and whether they make much of a difference....

Yep I have one, it weighs NOTHING! I have been sent an old one to replace it and the difference in weight is incredible!

It wouldnt make any difference to my fella but just thinking of investing in one for hubbys saddle.... Im sure a few pounds in weight would make some difference over a full XC course...
Fiona thinks they would snap if landed on (as oppose to bending like mine did) so they would still preserve the saddle and the horses withers in the event of a similar fall.

The lightweight ones are £40 as opposed to £20. They are a lot lighter.

Rush job - showed the fitter that I thought my saddle was lifting a little at the back so she suggested changing the headplate to see if it made a difference, she was off on hols and it was the only one she had in that size

new lightweight retail price is £85, and it now comes as standard in all Competitor range saddles

Awaiting a replacement for my snapped one! (See post yesterday in New Lounge!!)... hoping for a lightweight one but not sure what they will send! Will let you know if I get one!
