Anyone got / used a Quit Kick?

Hi Im looking at buying the Quit Kick Total Stall System for a horse that randomly kicks around the box, at / around feed time and would like to hear others experiences, both good and bad!

Did it work?
Has the horse stopped kicking?
Have they started doing something else instead??
Was it difficult to instal?

They are pretty pricey so I want to make sure Im doing the right thing.

Also if anyone has one for sale, feel free to PM me!

Water gun. I found the quit kick had flaws. Depending on horse head position didn't get the full blast. Froze in very cold weather.
 
I've got the door one and it's the best thing I've brought in a long time.
It stopped the kicking in 2 days, can't comment on the full stall one but the door is enough for my horse not to kick anywhere in his stable esp as he has a window which he can look out of.
They are expensive but they work, saved my poor yard owner having sleepless nights due to my horse kicking at antisocial times.
To combat freezing u put in bird antifreeze, my horse knows the sound so doesn't need the water as knows what happens and the concequences.;)

I brought one 2 weeks ago as my new ID mare is a bad door kicker, and it was the only vice she had , so previous owners said. Boy did she bang . What a difference even after the first squirt, it is amazing, it would not work with my boy as he stands and kicks forward without his head over door but the mare, it is brilliant.

Easy peasy to install just 4 screws in the metal plate and the quick kick slides on it.

I tried water gun but waste of time unless your going to stand there armed while someone else feeds the horses, the brill thing is it corrects immediately regardless of if your there or not

I did buy the ankle bracelets for if she paws the ground though yet to try them

A girl I know has one and its amazing!! Stopped her horse kicking within a day - and he was a chronic kicker!

I'd definitely recommend one now :)
 
I have just come in from giving their late night hay and I had forgotten to switch it on but Lexi had not kicked the door since I been inside 5pm.

Do remember you get wet a few times till you remember to switch it off before you try open the door or if your kick the kick bolt open you get wet lmao.

oh yes my girl only kicks the door - the boy is different if he has slip rails he kicks between them if you put 3 on he kicks the pillar - even electric fence wont stop him - in fact hobbles work on him as does a chain going diagonally across the door way so he cannot reach the door. That works for him as he kicks by lashing out full stretch.

But in fairness the guy said let them come to the door leave the chain off. I may try it in future once I am 100% sure lexi given up as I cannot afford two of them lol

Or you can get 2 small metal pans, fill them with water and rest them on the door. The horse kicks, the pan falls with a huge clatter and gets soaked in the process as well usually. Highly effective and very cheap :)
 
I have used Quit Kick after trying many other options unsuccessfully, worked within 2 days. Easy to install and v helpful support from suppliers if any questions. I don't have to turn it on any more, just the sight of it in place stops my pony kicking the door. It was the buzz from the device when it sprays which spooked my boy more than the water jet, but nevertheless totally effective, I would recommend.

Had a serial door kicker tried everything
From water guns to a tyre on the door
Was easy to fit and stopped him from kicking the door in about a day highly recommend hope this helps
 
Don't understand.

I bought one last week for my sons horse and it worked virtually straight away after horse banged once and shocked himself and it still works with no tampering or altering the jets.
 
Seriously unimpressed... keep a herd animal that is designed to mooch around eating for most of the day alone in a wooden box and feed it occasional high-calorie meals.

Then suppress its natural excitement at the food/stereotypical boredom induced behaviour/social interaction.

Or take a step back and actually think through what is happening?

I think you need to understand more about why people have bought these before judging us all so negatively. I bought mine for a horse that was on box rest with a serious injury to a foreleg. His habit of banging the door was preventing the injury from healing. I bought the Quitkick as a last try resort to get him sound or really it would have been pts or no chance of much turnout for the rest of his life. A few weeks after my investment his leg started to get better so it was definitely kicking the door which was stopping it from getting better. I have kept horses at home all my life with as much turnout as possible so I am perfectly well aware of the needs of a grazing herd animal.

On the issue of service, the company were very helpful when I had problems with my charger, they replaced it no questions asked.

I'm aware there will be exceptions, yours is clearly one of them. But in most instances I suspect these devices are used to prevent a symptom of management decisions impacting an owner rather than doing anything to improve things for a horse.
