i was told by one vet one of my poodles had wheat allergies turns out she got seasonal flank alopecia.
anyone have a dog with seasonal flank alopecia

My last poodle girl started to thin out the hair on her thighs, and also left too much hair in the brush...I had her tested for low thyroid and sure enough it was this.The initial stages are subtle and can easily be missed.I would definitely test for this in your dog.
(in my dogs case she also increased weight,and was more tired.)

her thyroid is fine hun.ive ggogled seasonal flank and its exactly what she has.matching hair loss on both flank grows back different colour/texture and then looses it again.its got worse since shes been spayed.

I had a boxer bitch with seasonal flank alopecea, she would go bald in a large tear drop shape from her shoulder right along her sides through the summer and get a weak coat over winter. I have noticed where you are based and I would honestly try and get an appointment with a lady called Sue Patterson she is based in Manchester but would be worth the trip she is an Animal Skin specialist.
