the past few weeks my dog has developed a round "thing" on her face
at first i thought it was just one of the bumps from near her whiskers that all dogs have and maybe had rubbed it sore, but it isnt it is lower than that is pink and warm (no puss or anything ) but it is sore it is about the size (round in mass) of a marble and firm not squishy

i am keeping my eye on it and if it grows she will be going to the vets next week. but until then any help on what it may be would be appreciated

that is weird isnt it?

The fact that there is heat indicates some kind of infection, so i would visit the vet asap to be on the safe side. Small insignificant infections can progress to full blown septicaemia very quickly, thats probably not going to happen in the slightest, but suspected infections do need to be dealt with as early as you can.

thank you she is going to the vets on monday (only day off) just wanted to poss find out what it could be before i go or if anyones dog has had something like this before xxx

Just an idea, does she play with sticks? could it be a splinter from a piece of wood inside her mouth ? or maybe an infected tick.

Is it hard/attached? Could be a tumour or an infection, definitely needs vet attention.

half of it is above the skin (the bit you can see) and from the feel of it there is another half under it. it feels like a marble but not as hard
but it is quite hard and if she catches /scratches near it or on it it does bleed. not alot but it is enough. she is at the vets on monday

hope it is not a tumour shes only just 2 yrs old :( xx

It is a hystiocytoma,a sort of juvenile benign tumour thingy,it will drop off all by itself in time.If you want to be pro-active you can paint it with iodine twice a day to speed up it`s departure.

shes off to vet for a check up on monday to see if her steroids are working for her other condition so will get them to check it over anyway.

thanks for the tip xxx

It may well be, but they sometimes have to be removed and that looks infected anyway so she will need te vet to check it, glad shes going on monday.
