yep,a friend of mine sent her mare there two years running, and she had 2 lovely fillys, both strong and healthy, both over 16hh at rising 1 and 2,they are very nice people at the stud and the stallions have a lovely gentle way with the mares, we are going back to use them again this spring. well worth a visit.

went in the stable with him and fed him some cubes out of my hand, gave him and his gigantic crest a good pat,he is so gentle, so awsome to look at yet didnt step into my space at all, i am 5ft 8 and felt very small compared to him,the owners take mares in from april.

He sounds just what I am looking for. I am assuming they don't do AI, as it doesn't mention it on the website? Is your friend just leaving her mares there until they are scanned in foal, or how does it work? Are they running out with him, or do they cover the mares in hand?

Thanks for all this info, it's really good!

ETS: I have emailed the stud, but have not had a reply yet...

they cover the mares in hand, the mares stay until the stallion has stopped them,if you ring the phone number early evening you should get hold of them, you have to make an appointment with them, they are farmers and its the calving season at the moment. the number is 01633450324.

means the covered mare hasnt come back into season and isnt interested in the stallions advances anymore, usually a sign that they have concieved, but ask at the stud, they have been covering mares for many years and really do know their job.
