Hi,

Does anyone know of any grass livery, assisted livery or cheap part livery in the Chobham area of Surrey?

I'm considering purchasing a stallion, the current owner assures me he is very laid back and calm and has no stallion traits as he has never covered a mare and has been out in a bachelor herd but I cannot find anyone who will take him.

There are not many suitable yards which do DIY in the Chobham area - most would not have the facilities to keep a stallion as they are almost always mixed yards and I think other liveries might object no matter how nice he was. There are some nice part and full livery yards that would probably take him and if you pm me I will suggest one that I know has a stallion already and is a nice yard with good part livery prices.

You need to also ask if he has ever been turned out ajoining mares, stabled with mares, etc. You need to be at a yard with very good fencing and a very good policy and knowledge too - it is no good being on a big DIY yard with numpties around, EVERYONE on the yard has to be aware that he is a stallion and treat him as such - no randomly tying up a horse outside his stable for instance. I very much doubt you will find a livery yard who will be happy for him to be turned out with others, male or not.

You need to ask you yourself why you are going to keep him entire. It is pointless unless he is standing at stud.

I haven't had a chance to pop over there yet but I'll hopefully manage it tomorrow, I'll stop at C'Rider at the same time. I'm just posting on here in case there's someone out there with their own land who doesn't advertise.

We have space - we're in Claygate though. Small competition yard - 15 odd horses, 6 or 7 liveries (remainder are the owners). Seperate turn out but no individual turn out. 2 surfaced schools - dressage and jumping seperate. Horse walker, wash stall, great YO. There are mares, but boxes away from them would probably be possible. More geldings than mares anyway. No stallions at the moment I'm aware of. PM me if you want details.
