Anyone heard of or used a "thundershirt" for anxiety

I have bought a Anxiety Wrap which is supposed to be better than the thundershirt which is a knock off of the anxiety wrap. The anxiety wrap has extra straps at the rear and is cheaper too.I am so impressed with it as I have been trialling it on one of my dogs and it works (he is noise phobic and suffers from lack of confidence) that I have opened a trade account with them and have ordered some in to sell through my saddlery business, they also do a anxiety face wrap. Here is the link for them

thanks for the link. Very interesting. Explains it better than the thundershirt....

Do you do mail order from your shop? Could you send me a link?

I know someone that uses them on 2 vizzies, they are meant to be pretty good although I have never seen them in action myself (except in their promotional video!)

This seems to be a take on the ttouch body wraps? I have seen improvement in dogs at work when using the wraps so dont see why these wouldnt work but Id probably just learn how to wrap the dog using crepe bandages as per ttouch. Much cheaper and more versatile! The book 100 ways to solve your dogs problems by Sarah Fisher has good instructions on using body wraps. I always thought it was totally bonkers, but it has helped some of the rescues so cant knock it!

Yes I mail order from my saddlery workshop.I have sent you pm with my link in, I have only ordered a few sizes in and a few face wraps so far to make sure they sell and not sit there for months tying up much needed money!
Oz :)

I use the Thundershirt on both my noise phobic dog and my reactive dog, I think they are great. Really easy to put on, stay in place, unlike the bodywraps. They are not a magic cure though, you are best to use them in conjuction with TTouch.

Whether you use Thundershirt/anxiety wrap/body wrap, make use them when there is nothing for the dog to be worried about, so he doesnt associate having it put on with something bad.

A DAP collar may also help and maybe some Rescue Remedy when he is going to be in a stressful situation.

It is a difficult situation.

I make sure everything is as calm as possible. He is walked, fed etc etc. Spend time in the room with him. He just hates it when I leave him. It is very difficult to do the training in someone elses house when your dog is crying!! People don't appreciate it!!!!! But I make sure that noone is stressed/upset, he does not get told off.

Sometimes I think we're making progress, then the next visit we're back to square one....
