i have a 28 yr old mare - who when it is sunny is sound not a problem - but as soon as it rains she goes lame without fail - she has foot canka but is ok when its warm but lame as a pig when it rains - vet has had her on bute and everything but doesnt stop been lame - as soon as it warms up she goes back sound again ? vet coming tomorrow again any help appreciated

It could be she is getting cold in the rain... as you say she is sound when it warms up.

Perhaps a circulation problem as her blood will be redirected to preserve her core body temp...

comparable in humans when your hands are really cold they go stiff and can hurt cause the circulation isn't there. or cold feet. We all know what is is like trying to walk after winters ride and your feet are cold..it bloody hurts..

or perhaps it could be rhumatisum/ arthritis again the cold would cause this ... though thinking about it the bute would help with this one.

my bet is perhaps lack of circulation to the extremities in colder weather, or when she is feeling colder.

Good luck
