My freind is looking at loaning a 13 h nf x tb and she is 5 foot 3 and 9.5 stone. Does anyone here ride a similar size and is a similar build to my freind? She's curious as to whether shes too big or will look too tall etc

Any pictures anyone has would be fantastic, thank you x

I am a long legged 5.2ft. I've ridden my sisters 13hh fell and been ok, but she is very chunky and deep in the girth. I'm a bit slighter as well.

Honestly, I think your friend might find she's too tall, as I doubt that cross will be as chunky. It all depends on the pony though.

I don't have pictures but I'm 5 foot 3 and about 8.5 stone and I ride 3 different ponies around that height.
I don't have any pictures but only one makes me feel a little too tall but she's a finely built Welsh X.
Ones averagely built and the other a stocky little Welsh D X and I feel fine on those two although I prefer the stockier built. All three of them carry me happily and regularly scamper off with me ;)
When I get round to getting a pony of my own that would be the minimum height I'd look for, mainly cos I'd worry about putting weight on and then being a squisher.

I'm 5ft3 and have happily ridden that height, just have to make sure they take up the leg. Pharaoh was a fine nf x tb standing at 14.1hh and he only just took up my leg - but then I have also ridden ex racers that I looked tall on because they didn't. If your friend feels comfortable and the horse is happy then that is what matters :)

I'm 5ft4 and a bit and ride a 12.3hh & a bit. She's built like a tank and carries me fine, she's a tad long in the back, which I think helps the overall appearance of us. The only thing I'm finding at the moment, that is a bit of an issue is balance. She's green, and wavers about a bit, combined with a crap saddle and me sitting very upright, make for the 'sail in the wind' effect. However this will improve when she's more balanced and she gets a new saddle :)

I'm 5'8" and ride a 13.3hh Fell - he takes up the leg quite well. We had our second ever jumping session the other day. :D

My mum is 5ft3, 9st, and used to exercise a 13hh sec C regularly, she didn't look out of place, and pony barely noticed she was there! x

When I lived in Mid Wales many many years ago running an isolated Youth Hostel (nearest village 7 miles away) my only form of transport was a traditional 12.2 Welsh Mountain Pony. I used to ride him many miles a day (no shoes). I weighed about 8 Stone and was 5'.6" tall at the time.

I'm just shy of 5ft 8 (with very long legs :( ) and around 10stone. I have a chunky 13.2 Exmoor who has no problem carrying me.

You will just have to go and see pony and make a judgement call as not all ponies are built the same and where I looked daft on a NF 13.2 I look OK on the Exmoor.
