Anyone here from Cranleigh

Does anyone of you know about riding teacher in and around Cranleigh who are not too expensive, very good and offer their own horses?

Sorry- Just realised you mean the one in Surrey- I loved near there for 2 years and never found anywhere amazing to ride. There is a good livery and competition centre in Warnham, maybe they know where you can go? The Funnel's are not too far from you (but again you will need your own horse) and from what I can remember there is a livery yard near Cranleigh, but I am not sure if they offer lessons on their own horses.

You are also very close to my favorite two restaurants in the whole world. The Parrott in Forest Green is very good, but even better is the Old School House in Ockley- worlds best fish and chips (esp Scampi) I miss it so much!!

Did you have an own horse?

I have had an own horse for 6 years and now its hard for me from every day to no horse contact. But till now I haven´t found something for me to ride and I´m here since 3 months now.

I´ll google the stable you said.

I didn't have my own horse there, I worked at Great Bookham during the week and went home to ride on the weekends. I was looking for livery which is why I know a few places round your neck of the woods. (I lodged in Ockley!)

The Old School House is amazing! The most fabulous fish eatery I have ever been to! I used to live in the cul-de-sac opposite and would often potter over in my pyjams for fish and chips after work (or one memorable evening take away desert! coconut torte and malibu ice cream! Mmmm!) You have to book to get into the restaurant, but you can eat in the bar when ever you like! Let Bill and his wife know that I am still disappointed they won't deliver their amazing scampi and chips to Grantham. (Huge recommendation for their scampi and chips!)

You will often find the Funnells in the Parrott- they live in Forest Green, and that pub is their local!

About 20 years ago, whenever I was in that part of the country, I used to go to Albury Equestrian Centre for lessons and the odd hack - and 10 years before that knew a jockey/groom at Buck Jones'(?) place next door - Brook Farm.

I travel down there twice a year for their amazing food! It is my favorite place!! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!!! Lol

Brought up in that area, worked at the cricketeers when younger too! Think sands farm in Warnham might do lessons but don't know costs or how good. The Funnels don't offer training as such (shame)!

I think I have to make it more clear.

I´ve ridden lots of horses till now. I´ve been riding since 11 years and have had my own horse for 6 years. I also trained 2 young horses and for one I´ve got paid.

So I´m really looking for good riding lessons to improve my skills.

The last link was a nice one but unfortunately they don´t offer riding lessons on their own horses. If anyone has knows someone perhaps also just a private person who is very skilled it would be nice to hear from you again.

You are going to struggle. There is a woman on Ranmore Common who 'runs a riding school' but I have not heard amazing things about her.

You have moved to the most expensive place in the UK outside the city of London. Lots of people own their own horses and keep them at over priced livery establishments, or at their multi-million pound houses. Your best bet is sharing with someone who does not have the time for their horse- unfortunately the county is not set up for hobby riders, it is set up to cater for the people who work in the city and ride in affiliated competitions in their spare time. Sorry.

I have PM'd you a list of tack shops and yards that may be able to offer you something, failing that look at the BHS and ABRS websites.

No I really want to find something that suits. And If you say you haven´t heard amazing things about here it´s propably the wrong woman for me.

I really want to learn something if I have to pay. I´m not happy to pay a lot of money "just" to share a horse where I´m not able to improve my riding skills. And it´s not that fun to pay for a horse which is possibly uptight (most of them are because of their untight rider) and just to ride for keeping the horse flexible and happy is not what I´m looking for..
