I recently moved to the area and am still learning my way around the county! Could really do with speaking to a few people from the area who can advise on good local shows to take my gelding too (and where to find schedules) and also some advise re: show jumping trainers in the area.

So is anyone on here from South Oxon?

Which bit of South Oxon, and what sort of shows? I'm just over the border in Berkshire, and we get our schedules from Eileen Douglas and Jodhs Galore (lovely shop) in Bell Street in Henley, also from Countrywide in Twyford. I'd also think Equestrian World in Peppard Common will have some, but it's a bit out of my way so we don't go there often. If you can get hold of a copy, or sign up and download, Chiltern & Thames Rider magazine http://www.chilternrider.co.uk/ is a good source of information on local shows

Yes, I'm S.Oxon.
What level of SJ training do you want? There is a guy called Ross Irving based Bledlow, relatively cheap, and is quite a hoot when on form. Good confidence giver.
More expensive, but very good, is Earnest Dillon.
Depending where you are, near Pangbourne is Paul Crago, very good technically

There are also numerous RC level instructors. Loads of RC's cover this area including SORC, Chiltern, HWRC and TVRC

I echo the riding clubs as they are very active in the area. Chiltern RC and South oxfordshre plus Berks County are very active. There are some shows but nothing like there used to be. Woodland PC always held a nice open show but no idea if they still do.

I'me here, too - and need help with my horse... so anyone who knows of someone who is very good at dealing with very green and intelligent horses... please PM me.

I am from the area, i would like to know more about this horse? What sport is it men't to work? SJ, Dressage, Eventing? How old is it and what do you want to have at the end? I have a few very good trainners i know well that will be happy to sort out any problems you may be having.
