I would like to go hunting with the warwickshire this year but would like to know how my horse is going to behave! I was wondering if hunts will let you go to the meet and then see how your horse behaves if you decide to follow, do you have to pay for this? and how do you find out when and where the meets are? i assume you can't just ring up as they could suspect you as an anti trying to get info, do you have to prove you're not?

Also how much does it cost to go hunting? if you dont want to write here then please pm me :) there are 4 meets that i can hack to (horse isnt a good loader)

I think I have everything sorted in terms of tweed jacket, jods, hat. Not too sure about brakes for my horse but should going out on a fun ride if we can load her and I have a cheltenham gag for that so fingers crossed!

Hi there, we subscribe to a hunt in East Anglia but I have taken my son accross country on several occasions to hunt with the Warwickshire. They have been lovely - very welcoming and great fun. They have a website with contact details so I would suggest your first step is to contact them via that and just talk it through with them. The secretaries have been very helpful to us. Good luck!

Taken from the Warwickshire Hunt website:

Our "Newcomers Scheme" is designed to encourage those who wish to experience hunting for the first time. Person(s) are assigned to look after newcomers, inform them about what's going on and to ensure their safe passage. Special rates apply. Why not give the Secretaries a ring for more details.

I think you have to pay the cap in any case - and you may find that the meet itself is the most exciting bit for the horse with the standing around at the start... They tend to settle once they have got on the move and had a few gallops.
