What about a summer get together?? As some of you might know, a small group of us (some forum members, some not) are forming a new riding club - we are very close to being allowed the use of a fantastic equestrian centre as a base (just got to go over the details). Once this is secure, we are thinking about having a BBQ/launch party to give the club a true kick into action. I thought this could also double up as a HHO get together maybe?? Free food and drink :) and lots of horsey chat! Perhaps some displays/demos too - who knows!

I'm in cambridge-sounds good to me! Esp. if someone feels like doing horse transport shares :p :D Which centre are you thinking of using?

I'm Bedfordshire so not too far away.
zoeshiloh - how are you getting on with your gypsy cob? Have been hoping to see some more pics!

Just wanted to add aswell that id be very happy to get stuck in helping with things if needed too, im based very close to stowmarket/bse. Now uni's nearly over ive got plenty of time for the ponies!

She is doing very well - she has her first show this Saturday - its an open coloured class so not expecting a placing, but more going for the experience :) I will try and get some up to date piccies ASAP, I am just so busy at the moment! Working full time, setting up a riding club, opening a new feed shop, showing the youngsters etc! Busy times!

If you look on my profile page there is a link to the riding club website :) We will still be looking for some committee members, and lots of help at shows etc :) I have spoken to some local businesses and have a lot of backing, plus some local papers/mags have agreed to do a piece when things get up and running.

Fab :D, sounds like you're doing a great job! I've had a good rummage around the website, looks good, I'll keep my eyes peeled for more info as i'd love to get involved. And I have this summer before I can start work to use as I wish, so will have some spare time to burn. How exciting!

Ooo I never even thought about it, lol! We are getting a schedule together for our summer show, and a western class would be different, but would we get many people wanting to do it?? And who would judge it?? I wonder whether we could have a western display at our launch party - just a basic western 'dressage' (reining?? sorry I don't know western lingo) to music or something?? Do you know anyone that could do it?

Oooh sounds great!! :D My Freddie came from nr. Stowmarket! And my OH's mum is often over at shows near that way so I'm sure she will be very interested!
I also run a forum for horsey people in the SE/East Anglia which you can promote your new RC on as much as you like... PM me for details.

What a great idea, I'm BSE/Thetford way, if you need any help etc... Are you planning on having any tack stalls or anything like that for your launch party? just asking as my YO has just opened an internet tackstore specialising ponies 13hh and under and made to measure rugs. so might be interested in a pitch... :)

If you want to get western classes you could always give David & Sarah Deptford a call - they are based near Ely and are really nice people. www.sovereignquarterhorses.com

I did some riding over there just to try western out, was great fun but after riding "english" for 30 odd years I just couldn't get the drop of it.

What exciting news! I am Ipswich/ Colchester way so quite close and have been looking around for a riding club and it would be great to be involved in one from new, espec one that have lots of clinics and a camp!
And I love the idea of a HHO meet up too

I would definately be interested, I would love to meet like minded horsey people but have found some of the shows that I have gone to a little clicky and difficult to get chatting and make friends. Count me in, I also would be happy to help with anything behind the scenes. :)
