If anyone is in this area can they let me know of any arenas for hire and/or local instructors as i need to get the horse ive taken on fitter and would like to do some schooling as well as hacking. Having trouble finding places local....

The lady at the ostrich farm in the vale is called Karen and she is lovely, I know she has let people hire the arena before - if you want her number PM me (I will ring and ask first). I had my toby stabled on Ashley green for a long time (as I bought him from there) and thats the school I always used as I know the owner well as is just a hack through the woods and its opposite the turning justabout when you get into the vale. Also means I know all the local areas, instructors, amazing hacking etc. If not could you ask at that new yard with the indoor and outdoor school, I know they are still looking for liverys - its the one advertised everywhere like flamstead or something is its name. If you want to go for a hack with someone ever I have been looking for an excuse to box over there for ages :) xx

I just have to ask as I know the person who owned the horse that was keeping hers a companion has moved... are you on a private yard now where the owner has a black fresianXandalusian??

Thanks for the reply, i used to ride round the vale and hawridge when i was a kid so i'm slowly building him up again to get on those 'half day trails' maybe with the refreshments at the pub stop! I got in touchwith flamstead livery today (where i learnt to ride many years ago) all changed up there but might be hopeful. I vaguely remember the ostrich farm so might be worth investigating too. I can't say i'll be competing him just want to school for fun and exercise as he used to before retiring.

flamstead farm is a good one (outdoor school £15 an hour if i remember correctly!), there's a bridleway just off hog lane that leads down to it but not sure if you can nip through to the school etc, if not then the main entrance is just off the road towards Chesham. There's also cricket meadow down on the vale road - not sure if they hire it out etc but they also have a field of xc jumps (if you're that way inclined) so could be one to check out?..and can agree about the good pub stops! (espec full moon due to them having a paddock where you can tie up!)

Thanks katief i'll look into the one in the vale, only a short hack down the hill.
It was he loose massive pigs that took you by surprise around cholesbury that got us the most, needed the pub stop after that excitment!
