need to replace my hat and wondering about getting a polo-style hat as polo is all i really do at the moment, although i will ride 'normally' again in the future - but maybe not before i need another hat anyway.

anyone know how they compare safety-wise to skull caps? I would make sure I got a kitemarked one but I'm a bit concerned about the wide fixed peak as I know normally fixed peak hats are considered less safe? But am wondering if there are benefits of the peak for polo that havent occurred to me? Anyone know anything?

I only ride in a polo hat, but mine ( a Casablanca one which I love!) is not kitemarked as it doesn't have a 3 point harness. You can get kitemarked helmets- and lots of people play in them - from Casablanca and the UK kitemarked ones are from Charles Owen ( http://www.charlesowen.co.uk/us/products/palermo+polo) .

To be honest I'm not sure why polo hats have fixed peaks, but the peaks aren't very prominent and mine taken the brunt of a polo ball and lived to tell to tale!
