My horse recently got these 2 bald patches on her forehead! Like if she had horns! It looks like rainscald pretty sure its not ringworm or lice! I picked a small scab and then it spread oops! I've been spraying tea tree fungal skin stuff on it but it doesnt seem to be healing? Any ideas what to put on it? Fungas lives in moist areas so need something to dry it up! Anyone know how to post a pic???

Hard to say without a pic - put one in phtobucket.com and then paste the image link into your post

Mmmm sound a bit like what my girl gets. She stared getting it abot three years ago. The vet thinks its an allergic resction to midge bite (so a kind of swet itch). My girly starts to get it in the spring but only on her chesnut bits (she is a skewbald) so thats usualy on her forhead and on he belly. The bites start off about 1cm with a noticeable crusty bit in the centre and the hair drops off all around.

It always starts when
1) When the midgies are around
2) When her winter coat starts to drop and skin is easier to get too, for example she has gets them in the centre of any chestnut whorls.

The vet doesnt think its is true sweet ich because she doesnt rub her mane and tail out. I use camrosa ointment as it soothes and gives a physical grease barier against midges. I also use a fly mask with ears and sew the forlock hole up. If her belly gets any worse will have to get her boet rug on too. Blasted midges started here in mid Feb.

I saw ring worm on some horses at another yard and they had bald patches that were raised at the edges - although I think there are various sorts

That looks exactly like my girls patches. It usualy takes about a month to 6 weeks for the hair to come back - may be quicker at he moment because summer coat is coming through.

Yes she has been itching it at the time I took off the scab like mad itching not now tho but it just looks ugly with a few stray scabs and hair patches!!
