Re my earlier post about my mare having nose bleeds, the vet can out and did a blood clotting test and a few other fitness tests which thankfully all came back completly normal! He has now given me the option of leaving her and see what happens or have her taken in and put a scope up her nose to see if there is anything there, she isnt insured and I was wandering if anyone else has had this done, and what am I looking at price wise???

sorry for the long babble and thanks for looking xx

No idea, re the scoping - although if they put them under its always a lot more. how much blood comes and how bad is it? It is fairly common after strenuous exercise in race horses isn't it? Can you just live with it if it's not a lot of blood?

See everyone, I am a bird! Not a bloke as someone thought yesterday (hence the new pics)

US horses in many states race on Lasix, (Furosemide) which in humans is a powerful diuretic commonly used to treat excessive fluid accumulation and swelling (edema) of the body caused by heart failure, cirrhosis, chronic kidney failure, and nephrotic syndrome, and in conjunction with other medications to treat high blood pressure.

It does seem to work with bleeders over there according to owners and trainers! Here is a link to find out more.
