I really really hate them but went out with the torch last night and they seem to be breeding by the day and living in and around the garden hiding in the fencing and along the side of the house.

Anyone know if there is anything I can spray to make them die ???

Also is it safe around dogs ? as I have a little Lhasa Apso and wouldn't want her to get harmed by anything I spray

Why on earth do you want to kill them? It's not as though they're doing you any harm!

Beacuse there are loads of them, like everywhere and my bedroom is right there at the back of the house by the back door and the buggers are round the back door and I am getting really paranoid they are going to get into my room, if I find a spider in my bed the whole town will know about it trust me!!!

They are about 6-7 cm long !! Eeeewwww !!!!

I can understand why you want them dead. I cant even be in the same room as one! Once i had to go and get the neighbour to come and kill one cos my hubby was working late! I cant even bring myself to kill them in case they run up my leg or something!

So why not get one of thoses electronic devices that will keep them out of your room rather than trying to kill them all. Then you know you're safe, rather than worrying about whether you've missed any!

sorry , but its very good luck to jump on them with massive shoes on , and i vacum mine up if they dare to cum into my house, i blooming hate the bliters, and im scared stiff, id rather see a snake in my house than a fred.... we call em freds, yuk vile .....

Boiling water, kills them instantly. They aren't affected by gas or sprays because they have very hard exoskeletons.

Please don't all jump on me for knowing this, I learnt it when doing scientific research in Tanzania and because we could prove the area had valuable biodiversity it is now a national park. Worth killing a few spiders for IMHO...

Don't kill them they won't do you any harm

either leave them where they are or move them somewhere else like inside your garage or haybarn.

House spiders come into houses in September. Sept 1st in our house is Spider Day. The enormous females come inside first, then the males (smaller) come looking for them. So the hideous news is that when you find and zap ONE, there is at least ONE OTHER nearby. Probably watching you. I'm itching writing this. They terrify me - totally irrational coz frogs, bats, snakes, toads, mice, rats, bugs, bees, wasps I can cope happily with. But big black house spiders....erk! Hysteria. And more bad news. If you find what looks like the discarded husk of a huge spider - you might think it is a dead one - they shed their SKINS to grow B I G G E R. Sleep well everyone!
