there was someone, who was down as an approved person to complete horse passport forms with one of the issuing societies, and i know they used to have to carry a scanner, i just cant recall who it was and which passport issuer!

Dog & cat microchip scanners read horse microchips.

(As least both of mine do) Groomers, kennels, rescues, breeders and anyone who shows in europe will have a scanner.

Mine often gets borrowed and comes back with choccies or plonk

thanks,
i'm just note sure they would let a stranger borrow one! i might try asking the local cat place, as i know they have one, i know they DONT use it when you take in a stray (i had to ask for them to scan the stray, then wait 25 minutes until they found it!) and maybe they would let me if i gave them a nice donation!

You will find that alot of sheep farmers will be getting scanners as stupid EU regs means that alot of lambs are going electronic whether they will read dog and horse chips i am yet to find out
