I know there is a shortage, i currently buy from my yo but he hasnt got enough to supply me much longer and is having trouble locating any.

He said if i can find some he can store it free of charge and then he wont have to worry about supplying me.

If anyone out there knows of any please can they let me know
many thanks

Sorry, not much help but lots of sympathy! I'm in the same area and have been having a complete nightmare! I've been having to buy dribs and drabs of haylage, 5 different lots in the last 6 weeks, £60 worth of which I've had to chuck. Can't find any hay at all. I'm currently feeding 50% manky haylage and 50% gold haylage(like horseage). If I do find any hay I promise to let you know!

Thanks, yes like wise if i find any will let you know.

A friend of a friend has had some come up from Devon and she paid 6.50 a bale !

I'm in the same area and will pretty soon be in the same predicament as you...

Have you considered starting to mix straw with your hay? I think I'm going to start - I don't know why we worry so much about feeding straw, they do it all the time on the continent! and I've done it before with no problems.

at £6.50 a bale of hay wouldn't it be cheaper to feed dengie or similar as a hay replacer???!!!

roll-on hay making!! lets hope there's plenty of it this year!! in fact, I don't know why the farmers aren't out there cutting it now in the hope of getting two crops in??!!

Probably because of the cold spring the grass has only just started to bulk up. We have nothing worth cutting yet!

Hello there, if this happens again, perhaps I can help with some spare hay. I'm in Braughing, just off the A10, on the Herts/Essex/Cambridgeshire border -- near Ware/Buntingford/Stevenage/Harlow etc.

I could also provide grazing land if that helps as an alternative.

Hiya, I am in Kelshall just down the road from you and was wondering if you have any hay for sale?

hello, I'm so close you can possibly see me waving!, PM me your details please!

For those who are desperate, how far will you travel?

At Gt. Massingham in Norfolk (google-earth it), there is a decent stock of Cocksfoot (Blue-grass), in decent sized flat 10 bales, very well packed, very well made, and it's £5 per bale. It's a super quality, and mine love it!

PM me, and I'll pass on the contact details.

Alec.
