Anyone know what 'asp' is??

Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know what drug the letters 'asp' stand for? I know it's a substance injected into the tarsometatarsal joint of the hock, but trying to work out what exactly it is?!

Is it for reducing swelling over a short period and cost about £150 per injection. With a course of 3 injections needed?

It was for osteoarthritis, and apparently is meant to reduce inflammation and stimulate synovial fluid and cartilage, but only one injection (3 weeks ago) and cost £42?!
