Anyone know what it could be?

My horse has had a small round lump under the skin for over a year now just below his ear (vet briefly looked at it when visiting about 8/10 months ago and said it shouldn't be anything to worry about but didn't actually say what it was!)

It sits on top of the skin, it's hard and slightly moves around. It hasn't really grown since it appeared, but today he somehow too the top off it and it was bleeding a fair bit.

I can't really describe what it looked like inside as anything but a bit fleshy with hardened areas.

I've cleaned it up really well and will check on it again first thing tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone has seen anything similar before or had an idea what it could be?

Mine had one on his neck and when removed was found to be a small nodule that had formed around a bit of thorn that had got buried in the skin

We had one like this and it was a thorn or similar, it mas a small hard lump you could move, vet wasn't worried as it didn't appear to be a sarcoid. Eventually popped /got rubbed off & didn't reappear.

One of ours has one, she has had it for over 20 years - it is on her chest and is known as her 'lucky pea'. the vet said it was nothing to worry about.
