Anyone know what these lines are on my horses leg? She has them both sides but more this side. They are hard raised lines of skin, skin is very hot underneath them.

the heat would worry me more as its usually a sign of infection. I would get vet to check as if its cellulitis or similar then antibiotics administered early would make a big difference.

No not a new horse. She has had some scabs on her pasterns which have just about gone now. They made her legs very hot so maybe these lines are to do with that. I took this photo Sunday and today the lines have gone although skin where they were is still quite hot.

Have you been using flyspray? I unwittingly covered mine in one containing citronella. First the sausage sized weals came up and then her skin definitely had these lines too and oh boy was the skin red hot. Once I realised what was going on I bathed her twice daily which took everything down very quickly - then her fur fell out over the affected areas. I'd given her a chemical burn effectively :(

Not had fly spray or anything on it. Its both hind legs on the outside, but this leg has more on it. Yesterday morning i couldn't see the lines but i could still feel them, but by afternoon her leg felt normal but still hot. Okay this morning but this afternoon leg very hot and lots of lines again but they are running downwards and aren't raised like the ones in the pic were. She is also itching it with her teeth. Someone on another forum said blood vessels (which is what it felt like Sunday) and someone else said hives which is what it could be today, just in an odd place.
Vet who saw her Friday said it was a vasculitis rather than mud fever on her pasterns. I don't know whether vasculitis can affect them higher up the leg? No scabs by the lines but very scurfy.

Those are veins etc they get larger after exercises or it could be
Vasculitis: means inflammation of any of your blood vessels. It can cause a variety of different symptoms and problems. It can be primary, where it occurs on its own, or secondary, where it occurs with another condition.

I would consult your vet to start on on treatment.
