Broke my leg before christmas and am still on the 'no weight bearing' phase of my recovery. I've used some of my time off to sell off a few things on ebay and now have a bit a paypal balance which I'm itching to blow.

I'm thinking of buying one of those horse simulator fitness machines

Which is best the IJOY or the Carl Lewis one ?

I'm sure I'll be wasting my money either way but after 4 weeks on the sofa my bum's made a big crater in it and I'm bored out of my tiny mind. I REALLY need to do something to break up the days and I don't think I'll be doing any proper riding for at least another 3 months or so.

It may be too soon but I went swimming before i could walk with my broken leg. You just need to be careful on crutches getting into the pool, have a helper. Swimming is the best exercise apparently and my surgeon was amazed at my recovery, said a lot was due to swimming 3 times a week. Don't know about fitness machine sorry but am an expert on recovery from broken legs and coping with boredom...... any questions, please ask!

I love swimming, I'll be straight down the pool as soon as the plaster comes off (probably mid -late Feb). Had some great tips from friends eg wearing backpack around house and making tea in flask instead of mug - feels like I'm camping out in my own home!

Any tips greatly appreciated. I was so bored before the snow as lots of people visited but today I'm all on my own and there's nothing in the telly !

I had a brace rather than a cast so could swim earlier.

Sounds sad but I used to write a daily timetable with rough times I would do stuff eg Get up at 830, breakfast at 9, daytime TV after, call a friend at 1030 etc....... if anyone popped in unannounced then fab, the plan went out the window! It did help while away the time. I had to move back home with my parents (aargh...........) so generally had them at home to help with stuff.
