I just bought this trailer from a friend - its a restored trailer and they have done a fab job with it, new brakes, lights, tyres, floor and a paint job - take delivery tomorrow.

I know its a Rice, or I'm pretty sure it is but I wonder what type of Rice it is if anyone can tell me? The plates are pretty worn and I would like to confirm weight and such like.

So does anyone have one and can anyone tell me what kind it is? Also although they have replaced the floor, I would like to look at the possibility of having an aluminium floor put it - will this make a difference to the weight and will I have to get it re-plated if I do? First time trailer owner here :)

Thanks

Looks the same as mine and mine is a Europa (mine has the original Europa plate on the back so there's no doubting that it is a Europa) Mine has the square (ish) window at the front, same as yours

Looks like a Europa to me too. Beauforts have a wider front window. Ramp spring isn't the usual Rice piston. Are you sure it's Rice?

I was going to say a R Beaufort as it's similar to mine except my spare wheel is a bit lower and I thought a Europa was a bit shorter than a Beaufort. Does it have back doors as one model only had a roll down tarpaulin thing, not sure if that was a Europa or an Eventa.

Oh that's a good point which I probably should have mentioned, sorry - it did have the tarpaulin pull down instead of the back doors but the guy made back doors for it and installed them himself

Will you be towing on a B or B+E licence?

If the plate does not show a clear MAM weight then the total of the tyre load ratings will be the MAM

No worries. Have a look on this page, it gives full details if you click on each one. My Beaufort doesn't have side windows but it does have the vents and the Europa only has two sections, not the three yours (and mine) has. http://www.towinghorsetrailers.co.uk/brands/1018

I will be towing supervised with L plates until I pass my B+E - as far as I can make out it has 3 numbers on the bottom half of the plate - these are 1456 then 2500 and underneath that 100. I'm assuming that means a MAM of 2.5 ton? I will only ever be towing one horse, who weighs about 600kg - trailer is meant to under 1ton if its any of the makes mentioned. And my car has a 2 ton towing weight

Not certain - can you post a pic of it please?
