Hi,
Bit of a sad story but to cut it short I rescued three ponies from a sham of a yard about 5 years ago. The only handling that they had had was a beating. One of them was a little mare who had been separated from her mother and leapt over the partition in the lorry to try and get to her

. She recieved no injuries but was an emotional wreck. She was left to run with a stallion and was pregnant when I got her, at about 7 or 8 months or so she dropped the foal, the vets think she had contracted the Hepatitis virus while being covered

Having three horses to work with I found what seemed like the right home for her, someone who I thought had the time and love and paatience to invest in her, It was agreed that if things did not work out she would sell her back to me (first refusal). I was duped and saw her for sale a short while later, but by the time I got there she had already been sold to a lady who was a NH trainer. My friend was letting some grazing out and invited me to go and see a mare that was there that needed rehoming, it was the same mare. As luck would have it 2 days later I met the NH trainer and we realised who each other was!!!! The long and short of it is that from what we all know of this horse, her issues, her temperament and her lack of ability to trust people and retain any training there is know way she should ever be ridden or bred from but she is beautiful and and would make a lovely companion, she does not like my friends geldings (they are huge and she is little) however, she lived very happily with my little man.
It is a desperate situation and I just can't have her, there has been murmours of considering the PTS option which may be kinder. Anyone have any ideas? I just love her so much and want her to be ok for once.

I know this is going to sound heartless, but knowing her problems wouldn't it be kinder to have her PTS. It would be worse for her to be moved on to another home which may not work out, what then?

I know what you mean, and am inclined however reluctantly to probably agree with you, although she is no longer mine so the final decision rests with my friends friend. There is talk of a sanctuary having her, and I have already made up my mind that if this happens I will be contacting them to ensure there is no doubt left as to her issues and her past history. I am only posting on here because I know her and love her, and if I could find the right companion home for her then it would set my mind at rest. They are looking to move her on, and there is little I can do about it

I know that i helped the other two, and others along my way but feel like I failed her. I just wish she had been able to carry her foal to term and be a mummy, she deserved that.

I don't think you should feel you've let her down, you gave her a chance which is more than alot of people would have done. Where are you based, you obviously jump at Colraine or at least it looks like it in your siggie.
