Looking into the possibility of moving to Orkney next year (for a quieter life lol) anyone made this move? From looking online I see houses with land are way cheaper than here, how about property to rent with land, how much roughly per month? Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

I lived in the western Outer Isles for a couple of years. I felt very cut off. But Orkney is more "urban", if you know what I mean and seems to have most of the requirements of civilisation! The Orcadians are more Scandinavian in out look than the mainlanders, if that means anything to you, and I suspect more accepting of incomers. I've lived on the Mainland for over 40 years but not lived on Orkney. Personally, I would not live on an island again, though it would be easier these days with better communications.

Can't help re: renting. Most small holdings will be registered crofts. A croft is defined as "a small piece of land sarrounded by legislation". The crofter owns all the fixed equipment (fencing, buildings, etc, so called 'improvements') which have to be bought and paid for by an incoming tenant and pays a rent to a landlord, but crofts are very hard to get. You have to "qualify"! Google is your friend.
