Is there any way of finding out in more detail where it might be? I'm in Doncaster, but there's so many places where horses are tethered round here, I wouldn't know where to start and I probably don't know them all. I've seen two today on a riverbank which struck us as very dangerous when it's so muddy, but they're on their feet and there's grass, so no-one will do anything.
I'll ask people to watch out

its not the Shetland i posted about the other day.

according to the FB page its tethered on the banks of River Don behind the Threee Horseshoes pub in Town End. Person who saw it has taken it food and water tonight and been given a contact by Hillside Rescue.

I drove over the bridge Friday and there was a piebald cob-type tethered there and eating grass. Cant say i saw any water bucket but it was just a fleeting glance as i was driving. It's since snowed here but the grass on that area is pretty long and rough so hopefully still accessible to the horse. i'll pop over tomorrow & see if i can get a closer look at it. its a well known tethering spot for horses and there is a caravan site nearby so it probably belongs to someone there.

Add project rescue on fb, theres quite a few from doncaster on there who im sure would help, I cant post a link on my phone :(

Been to have a look at it today. There are 4 horses tethered on the bank but all well away from the edge. In my opinion all are an ok weight, certainly not porky but neither are they emaciated. They look scraggy and muddy but i felt along them and theres a bit of covering on each of them. All of them quite friendly and enjoyed a good scratch. :)

All had trugs with water in and all had plenty of grass around that they were eating in preference to hay that someone had put out for them.

One had a very tight headcollar that was digging in a bit across nose but there were no sores beneath it. There wasnt even space to make an extra hole in the noseband so i'll have a root around and see if i can find a bigger head collar and pop down tomorrow to swap it or find owner to give it to.

They are overlooked by the caravan site and are more than likely owned by people there.

i always think tethered horses look a bit forlorn anyway but i wouldnt say they were a welfare issue.
