i've used nothing but for years, i love it. some types are more absorbent than others though, i swear by Ecobed - clean, warm, doesn't break down to dust with use, no nasty print to come off, doesn't dry out hooves (unlike shavings), mulches down fast (or burns easily, or wormery worms love it!) fab stuff.
Kerilli or hellybelly - would you mind telling me how much you pay for Ecobed? I know it depends on qty and where you are, but just to get a rough idea compared to shavings.
I used it for my mare and thought it was absolutely fantastic to start with, then I seemed to be going through LOADS of bedding. Used it for 6 months then gave up in the end.
I think it is fantastic when 1st put down though and my mare is extremely wet!
Rainbowrider, it's less than shavings, as long as you aren't in the wilds of scotland, afaik. £5 - £5.50 a bale ish incl vat and deliv, i think, depending on how far you are from one of their routes, and how many pallets you have.
I go and collect mine from the supplier in Scotland its called bed exel up here. I think its going to be cheaper than shavings again this year, but I do not know what the current price is.
I usually get 100 bales in October and they usually last until Feb and am really pleased at how long they last.
This year, I am planning to deep liter through the week and muck out at the weekend to save time in the week.
I would like to get home before 8.30 pm in the winter esp as I leave for work at 7.20 am, its a long day.
Ive just done a deal with my local supplier and can get it at £4.10 per bale plus vat for reasonably big orders and thats including delivery within reason, its better than ecobed to cos its thicker board so the bed is much deeper on the same number of bales. If anyone wants some let me know cos ive done a little deal for sum commission !!!
We're just looking round for cardboard bedding at the moment. Can you tell me what sort of prices you're being quoted right now, for Ecobale, Ecobed, Bedxcel or any of the others.
