Sorry all, I know its a random question, but does anyone on here have pygmy goats?

I'm asking as I got mine two weeks ago and at the moment they are in a stable at night time. We are looking for a pig ark for them so I can put them out in a paddock next to the barn. The paddock is plenty big enough, and fencing high so they can't jump out but I'm concerned about Foxes.

Although I haven't seen a fox since we moved in 5 years ago (we do have Badgers in the nearby woods) I'm nervous that the goats are small enough to be killed by the fox. Has anyone got PG's and keep them out - do you have a fox problem?

Thanks in advance.

Mine just live in my yard and can go in their pen when they like. If its raining they will definately be in there as they hate rain. We have foxes around but never had a problem, mind you they were a year old when we got them so not tiny.

Thanks :) They are a bit flighty but are getting better. mine are a year old too :)

I'm hoping to get them a cosy bed with a fun play area so they are nice and active. We were just a bit worried about the foxes.

We have to Pygmy weather goats and they are now 7months old and live out in their own enclosure within a field with a pig arce for shelter and are fine, they stay in their arce when it's raining or cold but can come and go in and out as they please and we have never had any bother with foxes and ours are a fair bit smaller then yours from the look of your picture so sure yours would be fine out with a pig arce

If you are concerned about their safety overnight, perhaps simply make a door that will close them in safely at night time? That is what I would do.

My goats are all out in pens during the day, at night time they are in barns with stock wire to the roof - but then we have coyotes not foxes.

Thanks all :)

They are easy to keep, I give them hay, fresh water daily and a scoop of pygmy goat feed. They love bread, white cabbage and those horse 'tasty treats' from badminton horse feeds!

They live inside just now and I muck them out every few days. :)

Thanks for info about the pig ark, sounds like we don't need to worry so much :)

We have two pygmy goats where I work, they live with three big goats. They have a large shelter which they have access to at all times, they love to go in it when its raining as they're all wimps!
So long as the fencing is high and secure and they have access to shelter they should be fine being left out.
Enjoy your pygmys, they're gorgeous:D

Also not sure how true this is but when we got our 2 we were told by the breeder not to give them tap water only rain water as they prone to bladder stones and its thought that tap water increases the risk of this
