Just managed to bring my 2 boys in. They are hot, sweaty and very unsettled and have pretty much trashed their field. Why? Because the bloodhounds are out in the area and no one bothered to let the local horse owners know. I don't hunt but am in no way anti. I believe it is a crucial part of country living. All I ask it that I am notified so I can keep my horses in out of harms way. I am now hoping neither colics having lost my big lad to it in September.
If anyone was out today and can pm me a number to contact the secretary or whoever would give me prior notification if you are going to be in my area I would appreciate it. I am perfectly happy to pass on the info to other horse owners locally.

I no longer hunt, but this has happened to me previously a lot (I'm not far from you) so I feel your pain. Is this a new pack of bloodhounds? They seem to pop up in various guises so making contact with them is pretty hit or miss.

It's bad enough with the local pack of foxhounds, but by dint of making a lot of noise I do at least now get notified when they are coming.

Like you, I'm not anti hunt but I just like to know when they are around so I can keep my horses in.
If you find out who these bloodhounds are, please pm me with the details too.

Hope your horses are unscathed.

It's the Cheshire Bloodhounds. They formed a couple of seasons ago and I did hear that they were meeting round Little Budworth today, having changed the meet at short notice. They have a website if you want contact details - google it. Obviously they hunt a person, so there's nothing, in theory, to be "anti"!

Only today's meet, at Oakmere, is listed on their website. Advice is given to keep checking the website for updates.

Right, so now I know who these people are, I will have to remember to keep checking the website in case they intend to fetch up near me. The old lot used to turn up without having even asked the farmers permission, never mind notifying the local horse owners.

In my book, it's the hunt's responsibility to let interested parties know that they will be around, rather than us poor s0ds trying to find out when they intend coming.

Well, if they do ever come here without letting anybody know, I will be making a lot of noise (once I've caught my horses in).

Thanks for the replies. I will give them a call and see if I can set something up. I always get a call when the foxhounds are due around which is much appreciated. Which they have just done, due around tomorrow. We do seem to popular right now!!

I was out today, it was a late change of meet due to ground conditions. They are normally very good at letting people know that they are in the area so I'm sure they will be pleased to oblige in the future. It was passed down the line that we must 'walk past the horses' and we did - although the fields are very large (typically between 50 and 80) so it would have taken a good while to walk past.
This is the Cheshire Bloodhounds second season - an excellent hunt to be involved with. I've never enjoyed hunting as much as I do now.

Just received a call from Julie who is joint master of the Cheshire Bloodhounds. She apologised for the lack of communication and said she fully understood my issue. Apparently someone did come around to notify us but some were missed. She has also spoken to several other local horse owners. We have come to a workable arrangement for future meets in our area. Lovely lady who invited me to come and join them some time. Not sure I or my boys would cope but never say never. Nice thing to take the time to do and very much appreciated.

Hi Just to let anyone know I have spoken Mattydog and reassured her that it was lack of communication as we thought we had told anyone we were passing by, and we would make sure in the future that she will be made well aware that Cheshire Bloodhounds may be in the Little Budworth Area, she kindly offered to let local horse owners know as well which was very nice, we hunt a human scent so all our lines are laid so we know exact routes taken, if anyone would like to join us we don't have a membership and all jumps are optional (CAP - Adults = £30 & 21 yrs and under = £15) We hunt every Sunday from local pubs. You are more than welcome just get in touch via our website or Facebook to book in as we do limit numbers each week. Many Thanks and I appreciate your co-operation and understanding in the matter Thanks again Julie x (www.cheshirebloodhounds.co.uk)

How are you going to improve communications in the future? You do not publicise your meets well in advance, and your Facebook page was 'temporarily unavailable' just now. I live in Cheshire, and emailed the Cheshire Bloodhounds days ago to request to be informed if you are ever in my vicinity, so I can get my horses in, but have had no reply. How do you inform local horse owners that you will be in the area?

^^^^ Bump.

CBH homepage gives a link to a Facebook page, but clicking the link gives the following response.

'This content is currently unavailable
The page you requested cannot be displayed at the moment. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.'

Searching for Cheshire Bloodhounds on FB leads to a generic page, with comments from other people who have tried to find the 'real' Facebook page.

(Posted too early). The email I sent has not been replied to. Their next meet, on Sunday, is listed on their web page, but none after that.

I would like to be pre warned if they will ever be in my area.
