East Anglia …. the field was fertilised last week and the overnight temperatures don’t look as if they will drop below 5 degrees (well they may with windchill). Keen to get on with it in case there is a dry spell but I have never overseeded in Spring before so looking for experienced information!

I'm in the South East with fertile but very light soil. I've given up reseeding at the "right" time as I watch it sprout then bake and die off. I overseeded one paddock last November, it's growing well, another last week and the last will be done soon.

I'd prefer to do it in October ish, but that doesn't help the winter fields. We harrowed ours at the weekend, considering seeding when it's next due some rain and before it gets too hot.

I've done some patches in the field they came off in Dec, but mulched to give the seed protection. The winter field will be done in April because the soil is too cold - but with a offering to the weather gods for a benign summer.

I'm thinking of seeding the muddy gateways this weekend. Should I roll the seeds in? Or just sprinkle and leave?
I’ve noticed better germination if seeds can be buried by rolling than just sprinkling. For gateways I sprinkle and stomp them in with my feet as I’m sprinkling, for smaller areas.

I'm waiting a bit longer. The field I want to do is still wet in places and I need to narrow that first and put the track up. Last year I left it a bit late (April) and the whole bag of seed was totally wasted as we just didn't get any rain at all ☹️

I had a bag open from the Autumn so chucked it onto one of the rested paddocks but might have been a bit early. Temperatures have been consistently up so might do the other paddock soon.
