I got one recently, and just checked the washing instructions and it says to be washed a maximum of 30 times?

I'm curious - what happens after 30 washes? Do they drop apart? I'm hoping not as I quite like it

From what I understand the quality of the hi viz and reflective bits are compromised after 30 washes. Which is why mine is pretty grubby!

I have one. I suspect washing affects the retro reflective parts and probably the waterproofing.

Fortunately I am a grubby article and don't wash my coats often!

I've got one, havent washed it yet! I think it will probably lose its waterproofing, and reflective properties after that many washes. No danger of that happening to mine, it'll die a natural death before then! Keep thinking its a bit grubby, but putting off washing, it stinks a bit!

You could always wash it after 30 washes in that re-proofing stuff so that sorts the waterproof problem. You'll probably find the reflective bits start to wear if you wash it a lot. Hand washing would probably be better.

I have a 'Rockfish' reflective waist coat - fab thing.

Washed it for the first time in 2 yrs and has come up looking like new! All I can think of is whether the reflective strips would start to disintegrate if washed too often?

Hand washing? not heard of this......

Thanks everyone, I was thinking surely some reproofing stuff would do the trick... Hopefully the reflective bits won't fall to bits, but I know have an excuse not to wash it too often :D

Slightly off topic (sorry!) - but just curious as to where you bought your rockfish jacket from? I've had mine for a couple of years now and love it to bits, wanted to add some more rockfish to my wardrobe but they're not selling it on their website any more (and haven't done for a while now) :( x

I actually got it on ebay about 2 months ago, it was new, from a seller that seemed to have a job lot, and was erm about a third of the RRP, I did some research and am guessing rockfish went out of business, which is a shame as its a lovely jacket.

(I've got the freezebuster - which is nice and toasty warm :) )

I got mine from Go Outdoors - they just have a small selection of equestrian stuff, but my jacket was really reduced.

I hunted for ages for mine, could only find 2 on the whole Internet in my size, one in Germany, and one in Ireland. Think they've stopped trading :(

i'm onto my 3rd jacket now :o
i love them but i keep breaking the reflective stuff on the sleeves ,it just sort of snaps/cracks then falls off , i thought it was because i keep rolling my sleeves up as my friend has one and hers is fine

Mine has done the same, just on the left arm. Left handed so I think it's being used more!

I got one about three years ago. Washed once and it was ok. At that rate of washing I'll be dead and buried before I'm anywhere near 30 washes!!!
