I have owned Lux for nearly a year and half but he went out on loan for 10mth whilst i had the foal running around at home. He came home 3 weeks ago.
This breed never seem to have caught on as a "riding/competition type" & and i dont know why. He looks like a compact warmblood. he has manners to die for and is so kind, gentle and easy to teach all these things appear to be breed traits.
He is a little power house with an amazing jump and once is full reschooled he'll give all those expensive warmbloods a run for their money.

Does anyone know if there is a british standardbred society?

A girl at my yard has an ex trotter and he can jump out his skin, great little horse and he has a lovely nature. She really opened my eyes to the abuse the trotters suffer and the fact there are so few people willing to rehome them.
He's a little star, he will trot in the field but under saddle he know's not to, I always think the ex race horses get the lime light but there are other horses out there in equal need of rescue and reschooling

my friend competes bsja on her standardbred mare and does very well, she has also been doing hunter trials this year and has won practically everything she's entered. she's lovely natured too

Hi there

I have owned my ex trotter mare for 18 years, she is now 25 and in semi retirement. She has been a lively but very safe ride. She does pace occassionally when ridden and we have been marked down in showing classes because of this. She tends to go into pacing when excited or worried. Now she is in retirement I have bought another horse and I am now the proud owner of a French Trotter as I love trotters and their personalities so much! Don't think I'll have anything else again!

Excellent Gucci_B!!! I have had him for only 2 months but his temperment and his personality is fab!! He moves wonderfully too and thankfully although he is a trotter he is not gaited, he trots diagonals! My mare is gaited as she did race in her younger days. Not tried jumping him yet but he does jump. He has just turned 6 so just getting to know him slowly. You'll have to send me some details of her breeding... they may be related!!!

yer sure, send me a p.m!!
I traced my mare to france and got all her papers shire, dam ect ect... i'v had her for nearly 2 yrs. she is so honest, she's my best buddy xx

I have a Belgium trotter, he was raced but not very good! He is lovely but very opinionated, he can do anything.........as long as he wants to! I think f there isnt a society we need to set one up!

There are thousands and thousands of Standardbreds here in Ontario. I've had loads of them living at my farm over the years. Most are fairly useless at ridden work however they do try. In general, I'd say they are the least clever and least talented horses I have living here.
