Preferably a 2005 model.

Should the interior light (in the centre on the roof) near to the sunroof/windscreen/central rear view mirror lite up when you open the front driver or front passenger door.

I have told the dealership it was working before and they insist that you have to switch it on manually. Am pulling my hair out with this garage and am not being fobbed off anymore... or perhaps I'm just stupid!

I shall be hunting around the supermarket car parks to find a Rav and ask the owner a question.

Mine is a 2008 so might be different but there is a sliding switch near the light which you can set so the light comes on when the door opens or if you slide it the other way the light stays off
 
Hold on ..... mine is a 2005 model, so off out in the dark and will be back

Yes it came on, when I opened the driver's door ..... the light by the sun visor does not though, as you need to turn that on manually

Thanks for your reply. I currently have a loaned 2006 from them (new body shape) and the roof lights come on when you open the doors - fab when its dark - it also has a sliding switch which you can set the light to come on when the door(s) open.
I can't check until my Rav gets returned to me (yet again) as they did a rubbish repair when someone ran in the back of me.... My friends (men) agree that the repairs are of poor standard - finished in a hurry perhaps.
All I want is my Rav to be returned to me in an acceptable condition. Quality check - they don't know the meaning.... it was returned with the rear reversing light still not working since the collision plus lots of other issues. It's been a nightmare and non of it was my fault. I somehow think that I will be contacting an independant engineer (£100 + vat) to check over the vehicle and report his findings etc as after a conversation from the Bodyshop Manager today I think I'm going to be disappointed when its returned back to me tomorrow.
