Selling a dressage saddle on eBay and have someone interested in Italy, who wants to know how much postage would be.... Anyone give me a guideline price? Can't get to PO in time to get a price from them before listing ends so will have to be an approximate price!

I sent a Wintec saddle to Austria a few weeks ago by courier. I used Parcel2go and it cost about £20 (DHL had quoted £345 for the same service!). There's a few bad reviews online about this company but I've used them twice now and both times it's been easy and everything went smoothly.
Good luck :)

I've not posted abroard but have used Parcels to Go to send saddles to UK addresses & have had no problem & they are considerably cheaper that Parcel Force etc. :)

It's possible, but just make sure you find a reliable company which provides full tracking from door to door. It's too easy for things to go wrong in the 'other' country and for your courier in this country to shrug their shoulders and blame the 'other' carriers for any loss or damage. Been there.... got the video.... etc... Just beware.

Make sure you have adequate insurance though. The £20 that Parcel2go and similar couriers charge only insure saddles for about £100 or thereabouts. The price shoots up if you ask for higher insurance. The very cheapest I could find was Interparcel who charged £25 for £800 worth of insurance and that was in this country. I would post abroad but would definitely make sure it was insured.

^^^^ Yes be sure to have appropriate insurance. I think it was an additional £7.50 to insure up to £250. However, I think you are covered by Ebay and/or Paypal as long as you provide a tracking number.....check out the T&Cs especially regarding Payments via Paypal from Europe.

Following what Spyda said....not sure you have a way of choosing what courier 'takes over' once the parcel is in Italy, but if you do, by any chance, avoid Bartolini like the plague - they are the courier from Hell, I actually wince when I see their horrid little vans

Thanks all - vetwrap how much did yours cost? I'm thinking will say approx £40-50 as an estimate, it's not a particularly valuable saddle so up to £250 would be plenty on insurance front.

Be really careful and as the others have said get insurance and tracking number. I have lived in Italy for 20 years now and my mum has sent many parcels that never arrived.
