Hi i am having a little trouble with my boy at the moment in that he is fighting the contact the whole time. He is currently in a loose ring french link or hanging cheek french link to jump but he is fighting both.

I really dont know a lot about bitting so i thought you would see what you guys think.

Sometimes it helps to go back to simpler bits, some horses don't like to have lots of joints in their mouths, so it may be worth trying him a straight bar or mullen mouth? Also he may not like the material of the bit, you could try happymouth, sweet iron, copper alloys, etc. When you say fighting what excatly does he do? Do you mean he runs through the bit? Sticks his head in the air? Is reluctant to accept a contact?

I'm having all these problems at the moment - I also ride in those bits for each discipline

I'm thinking of shelling out for a Myler Comfort Snaffle as I've heard nothing but good things about them

Totally agree re the no joints. Mine is very tongue fussy and after many trails (including a myler comfort snaffle) have found he likes a curved, ported dalehead bit. It has a bit of movement on the cheek as well so he can move it up and down.
