Anyone ride at Leigh Equestrian Centre, Dorset?

Hi there,

Clearing out a load of junk from the attic yesterday, I came across a box of childhood videos and photos including some footage of Leigh, where I rode for a time back in the mid to late 70s. Does anyone go there now? It used to be quite a scruffy place and wondered what it is like these days? I have very fond memories of long days spent up there - "helping"!!

Never rode there, but my mum and brothers used to probably about the same time as you were there! We lived a few miles away then, but have no idea what it's like now!

I had my horse there on livery about 18 months ago, was quite scruffy then, but i know it got taken over earlier in the year and from what i've heard they've made big improvements. Havent been back since i left so cant confirm that i'm afraid.

Is still scruffy and up for sale in September, by auction. Last tennants left early under a cloud. Owner fed up and selling the yard with a few acres.

Oh, that's a shame. Do you know the story behind the last tenants? Apologies for clogging up the board with queries that won't be of any interest to many people, but I'm curious (and a little sad!).

The Tuckers, who had it 2nd last, did the best job they could, considering the terrible business rates and bottomless mud.
The people who had it last neglected to pay their bills and then blamed it on everyone else. Not a way to run a business or win friends!
Has just been sold so waiting to see what happens next...

Thanks for this Chazza - I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to it too. I have many happy memories of my days there and would feel very sad if it didn't continue!
