I rode in one (on one?) this morning, and blimey it was comfy!

Looked a little odd, but was surprisingly light, and the horse went very well in it. Chunky Monkey also has a GP saddle, but I plan to ride in the military saddle from now on, love it!

Has anyone ridden in one, or have any opinion on them at all?

learnt to ride in one, best saddle ever! it was ancient, a leftover from when the riding school was run by the army base. if i could have sneaked it away, i would have!

Hmmmm...forty years ago! Used to ride my Father's Colonel's horse. The horse was massively uncomfortable, but the saddle was great, which helped.

Probably changed a bit since then, maybe.

They are very odd looking, but they more than make up for it with the comfort level and nice weight displacement for the horses back etc

Love them but like most saddles that aren't "English" you have to get them from abroad and that adds to the cost

This one is ancient, but in really good condition, it has been well looked after and the leather is lovely. It is a bit creaky but I never want to ride in anything else ever again!

Fat Lad is needing a new saddle, but I doubt a military saddle would fit a 13.2 Highland :(
