My hubby is in a partnership with one of his mates and they buy houses, do them up, and then rent them out. We started in October last year and we are now waiting to sign for our 4th house. We are still finishing one off but it will only be another week or so. My hubby does most of the labour work and his partner does the painting etc. They get folk in to do plumbing, plastering etc but it is keeping hubby busy, and he enjoys it.
Hi, yes tailendjewellery, horse hair jewellery business. There are pros and cons about working for yourself but having now done it for 8 years I would never go back to working for someone else. Great satisfaction but its more than a full time job when you have to be accountant, market exec, designer, rep, etc all in one!!!! My advice though is go for it, dont live for regrets!!!
We are a Horsebox Coachbuilder, I love the fact I can work from home, I love the finishings part but choosing the right spray colour and design for a stock build can be a bit of a headache at times ....what if I choose the wrong one and its hated!
I have learnt so much in the past 7 years about vehicles I cant tell you - It still makes me laugh when I am purchasing chassis and the sales guys are astounded that a "mere" woman knows so much about vehicles !!
I run a dog walking and horse sitting business. I'm loving it but as it's a fairly new business I'm finding these initial months quite stressfull - having gone from a well paid job offshore to not being sure if I'll earn enough to get by is pretty scary!
I run my own Equine Sports Massage business, www.equetouch.co.uk. Have been in business for about 2 years now & word of mouth is essential. It is hard work to build up a business but with persiverance and determination it's the best thing in the world (I used to be a Bank Manager & I've not looked back!). So if anybody out there is thinking about running your own business, do your research, but go for it!
I've got my own book-keeping business, have a business with my Mum (packaging) and also help hubby run his logistics company too
Its great being self employed and being your own boss but you still have to keep people happy and no sick pay (I think I've had 2 days off sick in 5 years!!) and no holiday pay............... wouldn't change it though
