Just had to say what a fabulous win for Sam Waley-Cohen in the King George today....fantastic jockey and superb horse. I wanted Kauto to win, but it's so nice when someone more unexpected gets these top prizes. Wonderful!

Take nothing away from Long Run, the best horse on the day won, but I am :( for Kauto. Maybe the time has come to be thinking about how much longer his racing days should continue :(

I saw it but never heard a thing as the sound went on the TV as I switched on!!
Well deserved, he won well. Thought Kauto did not look happy most of the time but anyone with sound might know more from what they said later so would love to know please. Bring back Ruby, how much longer is he going to be off, anyone know?

Think Ruby said today he should be back in February so he should be on Kauto come Gold cup day. Don't think it would have made a difference today if Ruby was on him or not, AP did nothing wrong imo and fair play to him for staying on. I know Kauto won at Down Royal earlier in the season but I thought he was a bit lacking in his old zest then too. It's going to take a mighty performance to beat Long Run, Denman and Imperial Commander at Cheltenham, the Kauto of old could have done it but I fear the Kauto of old is slipping away :(

Paul Nicholls agreed with you maesfen; just said Kauto never looked like winning today - had a good prep, no excuses besides maybe age catching up. Fantastic winning performance from LR and Sam. Very exciting prospect although I hope they don’t go for gold too early given his age.

Great performance by Long Run especially being only a 6yo. Kauto not really firing, maybe it's because the Nicholls yard isn't quite up to it's amazing form or maybe age is finally catching up with Kauto. I certainly hope nobody is fool enough to think that Ruby would have be anymore successful on Kauto today than Tony. What ever the future is for Kauto he is still a star and so was Tony for staying on at the 2nd last!

Lol, think that might be the other way around; I agreed with PN although I didn't hear him say it!
I agree with you about LR though, it does seem too early but wasn't Kauto only seven or so. What's LR's breeding, if it's French they're a precocious lot! :)

What was the blue toggle like things by the headpiece of the bridle ???Was it an attachment to stop the bridle from coming off?? Long Run certainly deserved the win.
Kauto seems not to be that fit and dull in his approach to the fences.

they are Ear plugs to keep him calm (removed them after the race), first time he's worn them. He is French Bred bet they are gutted!
