I am struggling to pack the saddle i have sold via ebay, what has everyone on here used? I cannot find a box big enough has anyone had one packed up in a black sack?
Try a crisp box from your local supermarket, I used them when I sold mine. I have bought from there as well and had a variety of boxes, but never anything in a sack - I would not be impressed if it turned up like that either, you could guarantee it would get well squashed in transit.
I've sold several saddles on ebay and have managed to find boxes big enough. I would'nt be overjoyed if someone sent me a saddle that was packed in a sack at all.
I have bought 2 saddles from ebay- the first i picked up as the person selling was local and the second was sent by post in a card board box and wrapped in plastic. Only problem I had was that the bloomin post office 'forgot' to deliver it so it sat in the post office for 10 days and was a bit mouldy when it finally arrrived grrrrrrr.......
no my father suggested a black sack! doubt that will do much for my feedback lol i thought we had an old tv box here but my mother binned it! thanks guys will have to see if i can get a box somewhere quick
The saddle I sold I met the buyer halfway as it was rather expensive........but when it was delivered to me it came in a large box with lots of packing.
I'd go to curry's or comet or some sort of electrical store and get a tv box - that's what I did and wrapped it in an old blanket/throw. Before now I have met the seller half way which was an hour's drive and i've also had one come by courier which was in a box
i went to my local saddlers and asked if they had any of the boxes they recieve saddles in (as they are extra strong and big) and I told them I was moving house and needed some extra strong boxes!
I have sold two saddles on ebay. Tbhe first one i managed to find a box big enough, put saddle in and then stuffed loads of crupled newspaper round it to pad it out. The second one the box was very slightly on the small side so the cantle stuck out the top, i put loads and loads of bubble wrap and tape on top of the cantle to protect it. Also stuffed bubble wrap around the saddle in the box too to protect it. First saddle arrived in excellent condition, have only just sold second saddle so don't think buyer has received it yet
I went to a local warehouse and asked for a box. The went through their bin and not only did they give me a box but they also gave me tons of styrofoam thingys to package it with - hope that helps
Ive bought one off ebay, came in a nice big box, filled with bubble wrapped. My friend bought one that was wrapped in bubble wrap and stuck in a bin bag, arrived with the tree broken!
That is exactly how it was received, I hadn't started to unpack it at all. Amazingly the saddle was undamaged and I was delighted with it but oh how different it could have been.
As a Thorogood retailer, I send them in the same box I received them in, and as most of the saddles I have sold have been fitted locally, I now have about 20 proper saddle boxes with the protective wrapping, stacked up in my garage, so if any one wants one in Cornwall pm me.
