Sorry, yet another towing question...

Looking at options, which are very limited locally for my budget, and came across a 2.2dti frontera which can tow 2800kg. I'm a huge vauxhall fan but have no experience of their 4wds so was wondering if any of you lovely people have?

Basically, what do you think of it, power wise, reliability, etc all the usual sorts of questions

I used to tow 2 14.2hh's in an ivor williams 505 with a Frontera with no problem...although not particularly hilly around here... and was happy with the Frontera. Loved it in the snow too! Didn't like the petrol consumption. Only did 20 mpgallon and using it for work as well did 17,000 miles a year.

Then we got a new horse who didn't like the trailer and for safety's sake got a lorry.

Hi I tow a 510 Ifor with one 16hand hunter onboard, I bought my Frontera 4years ago it is a 1999 2.2tdi ltd diesal, it tows brilliantly and without the trailer it was brilliant in the snow, it also a comfortable car to travel in, it has its quirks but I love it, I also get 28mpg just poodling about 30+ on a long run.

I used to have a Frontera Sport and it towed a bahill double trailer with a 14.2 with no problems at all. I did like it but had to sell it as it was a bit thirsty on petrol.

Thanks, that all sounds quite positive. Had heard that there's a common fault with the engine warning light coming on randomly and cutting all power (ie limp mode) and the thought of this happening with the trailer on the back terrifies me!

I know limp mode comes on for a reason, but my bro had a tdi vectra and the garage (main vauxhall dealer) never managed to get to the bottom of the problem after changing a variety of bits and seven years later it still does it intermittently. Turn the key and it resets but if it came on whilst towing up a hill would cut the turbo and I worry that it might just grind to a halt.

Aaargh, what to do?! I test drove it today and it drives nicely, is within budget, there's just the question mark over the potential EML problem
