Hi all,

I have just purchased some FSS flexi reins from ebay and I was wondering if anyone here had tried them, and if so what did you think?

My boy can be rather heavy at front and obviously I am working at getting him to work more from behind and therefore lift off the forehand. However, he can pull my arms out of my sockets and I find that when he does this I tend to brace against him and lock my arms to stop me tipping forward which can't be good!

So the theory is with the flexi reins both of us should have a little more play so hopefully it will encourage him to not lean on me and also encourage me to stop locking my arms in defense?

What do you think?

Have also posted in stable yard.

Thanks in advance.

I used them on my stroppy mare coz she was heavy and leaned badly but if I gave her an inch she'd take off  It wasn't an immediate fix but she improved loads and as she stopped tanking off my position improved too as I wasn't riding defensively :) Been back on normal reins for ages :)

Not sure about Flexi reins but I have Carl Hester Fantastic Elastic reins for my dressage horse who was reluctant to go into his bridle which made it hard to keep a consistent contact and they have been a turning point for him. Sadly not dressage legal but a great training aid at home and he is now much better on standard reins as well.
