I’m looking for somewhere I can get some really good instruction on a well schooled horse (I have hit a plateau). Sadly Contessa has cut right back and I’ve just discovered TDS. It’s got amazing reviews but I’m wondering if they’re bona fide. It would mean me travelling about 4 hours to get there plus accommodation so I’d rather hear your experiences first! They apparently teach RWYM methods, which I’m quite keen to try. I live on Suffolk/Essex borders. I don’t unfortunately have my own horse.

Having looked to their website, I'm astonished. They aren't a million miles from me and I have driven past them. To the untutored eye, they just look like your standard, fairly scruffy riding school with slightly run down buildings and a lick of paint holding it all together.

I'd do a lot more research before travelling 4 hours to them.

I've used to ride there. Denise is the proprietor and a really effective coach. She used to travel abroad frequently before C19 and teach, so has a good reputation generally. If you do go definitely ask for her.

Quite a few Welshies there, which for me are great as I'm only short! They also have a wider range of sized horses up to advanced.

They've just moved to Tong and I'm yet to check out the new yard, but looks good and much better than when they were in Staffordshire.

That scruffy place used to be an institution. Amazing riding school with a huge history. It went seriously downhill after the elderly proprietor retired and then sadly died.
It used to belong to the Weston Park estate. Not sure if it still does and is rented out. That may explain its ‘scruffy’ appearance these days as I doubt the estate put any money into it. It was previously a dairy farm prior to a riding school and has always been a bit higgly piggly as the stable are converted cow stalls.
I hope the new tenants (or owners) can make a success of it once again as it really was a fantastic place to learn back in the day.

Pleased to also see a couple of positives! I shall hang on a bit longer before making a visit but at least it gives me hope! Just wish there was somewhere nearer.
