I'm thinking of trying this bit (Pessoa/ metalab copper cherry roller )on my horse:

I just wondered whether anyone had any experience of this bit? I've not seen/ heard much about them before...

My horse is a 16 yr old ID x TB and currently goes in a normal cherry roller snaffle. I've only had him on loan a few months and his previous owners said he is better in the cherry roller than the kimblewick they had him in as he doesn't seem to set against it as much. He can be very strong.

However I think the single joint isn't working for him - he will throw his head up and still gets very strong and he is a bit of a tank really when he wants to be. I also think he has quite a large tongue and not much room in his mouth, which is why I want to try this double jointed one.

(small note - we are doing alot of schooling to work on this as well and that is coming along well nad he is beginning to work much softer, but I still need something for when we are out hacking and while we are working on things)

Anyway - I thought this type of thing might be a good idea to try... anyone any experience of it? Or general advice?

Thanks

Not seen this bit before, but I like the look of it.

I can see your thinking about the single joint as I am having the same thoughts at the moment with my horse. Would be interesting to see how you get on.

I'm hoping to try it out this weekend to see how it goes... I like the fact that its similar to what he is used to, but without the nutcracker action!

I'll let you know how we get on!

Thing is I'd never/ seen or heard of it before - and can find very little info on the internet about it...

have seen them but not tried it.

by the sound of things the loose rings and mouthpiece combo should suit your horse quite well - good luck!
