Well i guess you could put nappies on them! I know an old man who lives on the village i ride through who likes to run out with his wheelbarrow and collect horse poo to put in his garden! He's actually gratefull for it! Bless him
the sound of speeding bikes, thumping steroes, horn blowers, kids banging windows. im sure people can put up with my S*** as i have to put up with theirs!
We have to clean up our poo afterwards from a local estate otherwise the residents play hell with the YO who in turn plays hell with us. It's a right pain and I always forget
Oh God help us is all I can say......sad b*****d! I cycle ,and near were I live is horses up and down the lane lots of horse pooh soon goes if we have rain.......good job he don't live in the New Forest he might have to kill all the ponies!
a repsonse to horse muck on the roads. if i have to put up with the sound of speeding bikes, YES speeding bikes who always come too close and rarely slow down to atleast 15mph then im sure you can put up with a bit of muck, if your not driving too fast you should be able to see the much well in advance, even on a bend i would advise you take it slowly, after all there could be a horse in the road, i also have just as much of right to be on the road as you do, i too am a road tax payer. As for the person hitting the car with a whip, the average whip isnt much longer than 50cm, so the driver must of been extremely close to the horse for the person to be able hit the car. I rode out last year witha friend, when a bike got so close to my friends horse who tried to kick him off it, the horse panicked as he came within 2 feet of his back end and side....sensible riding? i think not, and who would of been to blame?! so maybe you should answer this question...if i have to put up with your [****], then maybe you should be able to put up with mine?
Yes people complain where i ride, especially if on the road out side where i keep ponies, some locals always make sarki comments so i kick it onto the grass. They dont even like it on the footpath. I had one horse (not mine) always poo by the fence and someone complained. I got a letter from the Parish council. Has the world gone mad!!
I've had to reply as well, really is one of my pet hates people ranting that riders should pick up the muck - last time I looked it was a natural fertilizer and didn't make kids go blind. I did suggest on my reply that perhaps bikers would want to put a plastic tube from exhaust to helmet so that others don't have to breathe their exhaust fumes
argh !!!!!!!! people like that make me mad !
When I was younger and couldnt control my temper like I can now, a car drove past me really close and fast, the road was wide and empty so there was just no need for it, so i screamed everyname under the sun at the driver, making hand signals at them the lot - they pulled over, got out and it was my bl**dy german teacher !!!!!
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm OK well I have a view on this *starts ducking slightly*
We have a new livery yard in the village - we are not entirely sure how legal the yard is but that is by the by. However this business has created more traffic down a quiet cul-de-sac and a SHED load more poo - but not just on the road, on the bloody pavements too
Before this business started you got the odd poo, now there is a LOT and in all honesty it does look very unsightly. If I was the yard owner I personally would walk down the road daily (it is all of 100 m long TOPS) and clean up the road - it would appease a LOT of people.

I think thats different though Weezy! if its very near to the yard and its a lot, then its one thing - but its quite a different matter if you're on a long hack and there's the odd poo about!
i can understand that completly, but i would say most riders go for a few miles on a hack the muck isnt confined to just 100m and is spread out across the hack. i took weezy would be very annopyed if said YO hadnt or wouldnt pick up the much, legal or not!
going off the subject i hve found that it is mainly bikes that cause upset to where i hack, we have a stretch of road near us about a mile long that bikes love to speed down, regardless of whats around the corner. My friends horse felt threatened by a bike user who had come in within 2 feet of her young horse (she was wesring hi viz etc) and he double barrelled out missing him by inches, and tobe honest, i wish he had of done the job properly, although the bikes behind him then passed on the other side of the road and slowly. if he had of made contact though who would of been to blame, i am also one of those stuck up bitches (albeit a male!) who has hit a car with my stick when car skimmed passed my horse trying to over take when a car was coming in the opposite direction. it might not have helped the caus ebut i did what i felt was best at that time after he had well and truly invaded flints space. maybe we should carry this muck in tiny bags and lob them at the cars and bikes that come to close or too fast !! just a thoughty!
Well spiral you know my village, we are talking about 10 poos on the road AND the pavements, mostly down the road to the livery yard - it honestly is getting a bit ridiculous now, especially the pavements
How can a horse whip cause 'extensive damage'? The driver must have been very close to the horse for the whip to even touch it, and the only extensive damage would have been from the actual horse. Perhaps your friend needs glasses?
Horses were on the roads way before cars and bikes. I bought my children a pony as I would prefer them out in the fresh air than sat on thier bottoms playing computer games or watching TV. But to access countryside we have to go on the road.
The amount of times people come flying past at 60mph in a 30 zone sickens me.
The majority of horse riders wear Hi Viz, I do not see cyclists wearing this.
And those who cycle race. I am sure the lycra squeezes too hard in the place where their brains are positioned...in their testicles.....
