I want to get my lot field safe headcollars for leaving on only for short periods whilst waiting for farrier etc or when I know I will need to catch them in a hurry etc. Which ones do people use and has anyone ever had one do it's job and prevent an accident?

Many thanks

I had one for my boy with the aim in being to catch him alot easier. He's managed to riggle out of it each time and when tightened, he'd snap the rubber to break free.

You can't lead with them either so not sure if it would speed up catching yours at all.

Horseware do one and its very good, you have a velcro section that the buckle attaches to ive never had any problems with them. Or you could use a leather headcollar.

I had thought about leather ones but wondered what the breaking strength was and thought they'd be pretty tough unless someone has an old knackered one I could have ;)

Maybe will try the horseware one for now as I do like their stuff so trust they have done their research.

I've found all field safe type headcollars too field safe! Theyalways fall off too easily lol, you're also not supposed to lead from them. For what you want though I imagine the velcro type one would be ok as long as you're horses aren't fiesty to lead and gonna try and bolt...!
